FAIRFIELD (BCN)

The Solano County coroner's office has identified the pickup truck driver who was killed when he crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer in Fairfield this morning as 50-year-old Randy Hartley of Vallejo.

Hartley's 1973 Chevrolet struck the tractor-trailer in the 5000 block of Fulton Drive, an industrial area, around 5:20 a.m., police said.

Hartley was not wearing a seat belt and the truck did not have air bags, Sgt. Matt Bloesch said.

A passer-by who reported the collision to police said the driver was unconscious and unresponsive, police said.

Hartley, the only occupant in the truck, was pronounced dead at 5:34 a.m., the coroner's office said.

The crash is still under investigation, but alcohol is not being ruled out as a factor in the collision, Bloesch said.
